Synthesis and molecular structure of [Rh3(µ-PPh2)3(µ-Cl)2(µ-CO)(CO)3], a unique triangular rhodium cluster derivative

Abstract

Reaction of [{Rh(CO)2Cl2] with PPh2H in benzene produces a unique ‘56 electron’ closed trinuclear rhodium cluster derivative [Rh3(µ-PPh2)3(µ-Cl)2(µ-CO)-(CO)3], in which each rhodium–rhodium edge is bridged by a diphenylphosphino-ligand as well as by either a chloro- or carbonyl group.
