Synthesis of phospha-alkene transition metal complexes

Abstract

The first examples of co-ordination complexes containing a phospha-alkene are described; n.m.r. studies on cis-M(CO)4L2(M = Cr,Mo,W), trans-RhCl-(PPh3)2L, trans-RhCIL2(CO), Rh(η5-C9H7)L2, cis-PtX2L2(X = Cl,I,Me), and cis- and trans-PtCl2(PEt3)L, [L = P(mesityl)[double bond, length as m-dash]CPh2], suggest that co-ordination to the metal is via the phosphorus lone pair.
