Prediction of phase equilibria using the Redlich–Kwong equation of state

Abstract

The equation of state devised by Redlich and Kwong has been used to predict liquid–vapour equilibria of a pure substance and of mixtures. Predictions have been compared with experiment and with the predictions of other van der Waals-like equations of state. The Redlich–Kwong equation predicts a shape for the critical locus not previously known, corresponding to a closed miscibility gap in the gas region.
