Study of the semiconductor-to-metal transition in VO2 and V2O3 by ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy

Abstract

HeI photoelectron spectra of VO2 and V2O3, measured at temperatures above and below the respective semiconductor-to-metal transition temperatures, are reported. Analysis of the vanadium 3d structure in these spectra lends strong support to the established band description of the materials.
