Thermodynamics of lanthanide elements. Part 2. Enthalpies of formation of erbium trichloride and of the aqueous erbium(3+) ion

Abstract

Enthalpies of solution of high-purity erbium metal and erbium trichloride in dilute hydrochloric acid media lead to the following standard enthalpies of formation (in kJ mol–1) at 298.15 ± 0.10 K: ErCl3(s), –994.5 ± 1.7; and Er3+(aq), –708.1 ± 1.8.
