Preparation and crystal structure of 1,1-diphenyl-1-phospha-3,5-dithia-2,4,6-triazene, Ph2PS2N3; an eight π-electron inorganic heterocycle

Abstract

The reaction of tetraphenyldiphosphine with S4N4 in toluene produces the six-membered heterocycle Ph2PS2N3, the structure of which has been determined by X-ray crystallography; the structural parameters and electronic spectrum of the PS2N3 ring are consistent with an 8-electron π-system.
