Behaviour of trace amounts of europium in a silicate matrix in atomic-absorption spectrophotometry with electrothermal atomisation

Abstract

The electrothermal atomisation, using a graphite furnace, of trace amounts of europium has been investigated. The interferences due to the components (major, minor and trace) of a common silicate matrix have been studied in order to obtain the best analytical conditions for a future determination. The detection limit (using uncoated graphite tubes) is 100 pg of europium.
