Automatic soil pH measuring and recording apparatus

Abstract

Equipment is described for the automatic determination of the pH of soils. It consists of a sample changer, a device for raising and lowering the electrode and stirrers, a digital pH meter and an interfaced programmable calculator. The calculator records the mean value of ten readings on each sample and corrects for any drift in the electrode system or amplifier during a run of samples.

The system is very stable and gives results that are more reproducible than those from manual determinations.
