The synthesis of bis(trifluoromethyl) sulphone and bis(trifluoromethyl) sulphonate by direct fluorination

Abstract

The reaction of elemental fluorine with dimethyl sulphone and dimethyl sulphate has been studied. The synthesis and characterization of bis(trifluoromethyl) sulphone, trifluoromethylsulphonyl fluoride, bis(trifluoromethyl) sulphate, difluoromethyl trifluoromethyl sulphate, bis(difluoromathyl) sulphate, trifluoromethoxysulphonyl fluoride, and difluoromethoxysulphonyl fluoride are described.
