Temperature dependence of the quenching of I(52P½) by HCl
Abstract
The quenching of I(52P½) by HCl has been studied over the temperature range 200–400 K, using time-resolved atomic absorption spectrophotometry (λ= 206 nm). The quenching efficiency was found to increase smoothly over this range supporting a previously proposed curve crossing mechanism. The results also provide information on non-adiabatic coupling in the exit channels for reaction of H with ICl and Cl with HI.
