Dynamic frequency shifts in multiply degenerate spin systems

Abstract

The ultrafine second order dynamic frequency shifts of single quantum coherence for the grouping of three identical spin one-half nuclei are explicitly calculated. For various interaction strengths and modulation anisotropies, determination of reorientation correlation times from simple line-breadth arguments may lead to errors which are not negligible. The expressions further suggest novel situations where the necessary corrective terms actually dominate the observed n.m.r. spectral features.
