Characterization of dislocations in, and photoreactivity of, crystalline 9-cyanoanthracene
Abstract
Low temperature transmission electron microscopy reveals the nature of the dislocations present in vapour grown crystals, (100) dominant, of 9-cyanoanthracene. Dislocations gliding on (100) and possibly (001) with Burgers vectors along [001] and [010], respectively, are found. No correspondence between these dislocations and the growth of photodimer has been observed. The existence of other slip systems proposed from previous optical microscopic studies has not been confirmed.
