Self-diffusion and shear viscosity in dense molecular liquids

Abstract

The volume dependence of transport coefficients of compressed molecular liquids along isotherms has been studied. Both the fluidity, ϕ, and the self-diffusion increase linearly with the molar volume over a substantial liquid range and the slope of the ϕ against V relationship for different molecular liquids approximates a square-root-mass dependence. Revised values of the viscosity of liquid SF6 are proposed.
