Excess Gibbs function for a binary mixture obtained from dew point and bubble point pressure measurements

Abstract

This paper describes a method by which the excess Gibbs function for a binary mixture may be obtained from dew point and bubble point pressure measurements, without any need for accurate measurement of composition. Details of an apparatus suitable for making such measurements are given and results are reported for the system benzene + cyclohexane at 313.15 K. Good agreement with the results of other workers has been obtained. A preliminary discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of this method, compared with those of the Barker method, is given.
