Wavelength dependence of multiphoton absorption and dissociation of hexafluoroacetone
Abstract
Infrared multiphoton absorption and dissociation of CF3COCF3 have been found at frequencies down to 30 cm–1 below the origin of the 971 cm–1 band. This excitation can be assigned to consecutive direct two-photon absorptions to states not containing the 971 cm–1 vibration. Within the 971 cm–1 band, multiphoton absorption data suggest harmonic oscillator-like behaviour. The data are consistent with the assumption that the absorbed energy is largely localized in a few states only.
