Synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of the [Rh5(CO)8(µ-CO)6I]2– anion containing a trigonal bipyramidal rhodium cluster

Abstract

The anion [Rh5(CO)14I]2–(1) has been obtained by reaction of I with Rh4(CO)12; the cluster, containing five metal atoms, consists of an elongated trigonal bipyramid with the iodide ligand terminally bound to an apical rhodium atom.
