Amides of rhodium(I) and ruthenium(II), [Rh(NR2)(PPh3)2] and [RuH(NR2)(PPh3)2](R = Me3Si): novel low co-ordination number d8 and d6 metal complexes

Abstract

Reaction of LiNR2(R = Me3Si) with [RhCl(PPh3)3] or [RuH(Cl)(PPh3)3] in tetrahydrofuran (thf) yields the cyclohexane-soluble, monomeric, diamagnetic amides [Rh(NR2)(PPh3)2] or [RuH(NR2)(PPh3)2], which on heating decompose with elimination of HN(SiMe3)2; the RuII compound has equivalent P atoms, but inequivalent SiMe3 environments.
