Polar substituent effects on 1,5-homodienyl hydrogen migrations in (E)-1-aryl-2-[(E)-2,2-dimethyl-3-phenylcyclopropyl]-ethenes

Abstract

1,5-Homodienyl hydrogen migrations in the title compounds are accelerated by electron-withdrawing aryl substituents, with a systematic rate dependence on σ constants (Hammett equation) and on σR(BA) or σR constants (Taft dual-substituent parameter equation).
