Electrophilic substitution in dihydrouracils

Abstract

2′-Deoxyuridine photohydrate with dimethylamine and formaldehyde forms 5-dimethylaminomethyl-2′-deoxyuridine in a very fast reaction the mechanism of which bears on thymidylate synthetase catalysis.
