Synthesis and 17O n.m.r. structure determination of a η-cyclopentadienyl titanomolybdate, [(η-C5H5)Ti(Mo5O18)]3–

Abstract

Reaction of [(η-C5H5)2TiCl2] with (Bun4N)2[Mo2O7] and water in CH2Cl2 yields (Bun4N)3[(η-C5H5)Ti(Mo5O18)], shown to contain the [(η-C5H5)Ti(Mo5O18)]3– anion which is related to the octahedral Mo6O192– anion by replacement of an [MoVIO]4+ sub-unit by [TiIV(η-C5H5)]3+.
