Light scattering and absorption spectra of small K+TCNQ particles

Abstract

The absorption and scattering of light spectra from small particles of K+TCNQ(where TCNQ is 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane) have been studied. In order to explain some discrepancies between theory and experiment observed in our previous paper new measurements by imporved techniques were performed. By using accurate optical constants obtained by Kramers–Krönig analysis of the reflectance spectrum of bulk K+TCNQ, we calculated also the absorption spectra of small K+TCNQparticles via Gans' equation. The calculated spectra from 0.62 to 2.5 eV are in good agreement with the experimental spectra observed by us and others. The spectra of small K+TCNQ particles are different from those of monomers and dimers in solution and that of TCNQ on glass.
