Branching ratios for the H + DCl and D + HCl reaction systems

Abstract

The branching ratios for the two reaction systems: [graphic omitted] have been measured as a function of temperature using a fast-flow discharge reactor coupled with a quadrupole mass spectrometer for analysis. The branching ratios obtained were: (a)ka/kx=(9.7 ± 1.0) exp (–4440 ± 590 J mol–1/RT), 215 < T < 438 K and (b)ka/kx=(4.3 ± 0.7) exp (–4350 ± 290 J mol–1/RT), 138 < T < 451 K. The results were interpreted in terms of transition state theory and a simple statistical model.
