Soft-sphere ionic radii for Group 1 and Group 2 metal halides and ammonium halides

Abstract

Soft-sphere ionic radii, M and X, are used to derive internuclear distances, d, in cubic crystalline Group 1 and Group 2 metal halides and crystalline ammonium halides from the relation d[graphic omitted] =M[graphic omitted] +X[graphic omitted] Soft-sphere radii for metal ions are identical to metallic radii for twelve-co-ordination.
