New method of access to selenoacetal chemistry: use of tris(phenylseleno)borane

Abstract

The crystalline reagent, tri(phenylseleno)borane, converts aldehydes and ketones into selenoacetals, the presence of trifluoroacetic acid being usually advantageous.
