Indirect involvement of geissoschizine in the biosynthesis of ajmalicine and related alkaloids

Abstract

Geissoschizine (10) is not a central intermediate in the biosynthesis of ajmalicine (7) and the related Corynanthe alkaloids (8) and (9), but rather enters the main pathway by a NADP+ dependent reaction.
