Steric effects on chelation in 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of β-diketone enolates

Abstract

Low temperature 13C n.m.r. spectra of sodium and lithium enolates of β-diketones (MeCOCHRCOMe, R[double bond, length half m-dash]H, Me or Et) provide evidence concerning ionic bonding and the effect of steric hindrance on alkali metal chelation.
