Biosynthesis of cochlioquinones

Abstract

The two oxygen atoms of the 2-(2-hydroxypropyl)tetrahydropyran system of cochlioquinones A (1) and B (2) are derived from two different oxygen molecules at separate steps on the biosynthetic pathway.
