Stereochemistry of the transition state of hydrogen abstraction by vinyl radicals

Abstract

Reduction of vinyl radicals, generated by photochemical dechlorination of polycyclic chlorinated pesticides, shows that the process of hydrogen abstraction must occur by a co-linear arrangement of reacting centres.
