The first hypho-carbaborane Me3N-CB5H11

Abstract

Alkaline methanolysis of 6-NMe3-6-CB9H11 affords, in 75% yield, hypho-3,4-µ-(trimethylaminecarba)-hexaborane(11), an analogue of B5H11, in which the 3,4-H-bridge is replaced by the –CHNMe3–bridge; existence of this structural building-element indicates the possibility of the preparation of a large series of new carbaboranes.
