Carbonylation of the η3-vinylcarbene ligand. Synthesis and X-ray crystal and molecular structure of an ‘(η4-vinylketen)’ iron complex

Abstract

In the reaction of (η3-vinylcarbene)Fe(CO)3 with triphenylphosphine or carbon monoxide (L), the η3-vinylcarbene ligand was carbonylated affording an apparent ‘η4-vinylketen complex,’ which was shown by X-ray analysis to have the alternative (η3-allyl +η1-acyl)FeII(CO)2L structure.
