Abstract

The reaction between MeSCH₂¹³CH₂OH and CCl₄–R₃P (R = Ph, Prⁱ, or n-C₈H₁₇) gives a 1 : 1 mixture of MeSCH₂¹³CH₂Cl and MeS¹³CH₂CH₂Cl via the 1-methylthiiranium ion.
