Pyrolysis-mass spectrometry of textile fibres

Abstract

A procedure for pyrolysis-mass spectrometry is described and the spectra (mass pyrograms) of various textile fibres are presented. The method is compared with infrared spectroscopy for the forensic characterisation of synthetic fibres. Samples of less than 5 µg can be analysed.
