On the electronic structure of aluminium diboride

Abstract

The band structure of hexagonal AlB2 is calculated in all the main symmetry directions in the Brillouin Zone. The Fermi surface is obtained and the electrical properties computed. The stability of and bonding in the diborides is discussed.
