Synthesis of alkoxotellurium(VI) fluorides

Abstract

The alkoxotellurium(VI) fluorides TeF6–x(OR)x(x= 1–5) have been synthesised by the reaction of tellurium hexafluoride with the appropriate alcohol or sodium aikoxide, and by the oxidative fluorination of Te(OR)4 with elemental fluorine at low temperature. The 19F n.m.r. spectra of these compounds are described.
