Diazobutanol complexes of molybdenum and tungsten from the reaction of bis[1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane]bis(dinitrogen)molybdenum or -tungsten with tetrahydrofuran in the presence of alkyl bromides

Abstract

Complexes of the type [M(N2)2(dppe)2][M = Mo or W; dppe = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane] react with tetrahydrofuran in the presence of alkyl bromides to form [MBr(N[double bond, length as m-dash]N–[graphic omitted]H2)(dppe)2] which are converted by H+ into [MBr(N–N[double bond, length as m-dash]CHCH2CH2CH2OH)(dppe)2]+. The mechanism of this reaction is discussed.
