Photochemical approach to the rhoeadine alkaloid skeleton: synthesis of (±)-cis-alpinigenine

Abstract

Photolysis of the bis-benzaldehyde (6) results in simultaneous formation of rings B and D of the rhoeadine skeleton and leads directly to (±)-cis-alpinigenine (1a).
