Oxidation of dihydropyran with MoO5·HMPA

Abstract

The reaction of dihydropyran with MoO5·HMPA yields C-formyloxybutanal, in inert solvents; in methanol, however, the solvolysis products of the epoxide of dihydropyran are obtained.
