Application of iron carbonyls to organic synthesis. Mediation of nucleophilic addition to alkenes via tetracarbonyliron complexes

Abstract

Reaction of the tetracarbonyliron complexes of ethylene and methyl acrylate with malonate ester anions followed by acidic workup affords alkene addition products in good yields.
