3,5-Disubstituted 6-benzyl-1,2,4-triazines: syntheses and reactions

Abstract

3,5-Diamino-6-(3,4,5-trimethoxybenzyl)-1,2,4-triazine (1) has been obtained by the action of ammonia on 3,5-bismethylthio-, 3,5-dithioxo-, or 3-methylthio-5-thioxo-6-(3,4,5-trimethoxybenzyl)-1,2,4-triazine, and by treatment of 3-amino-5-oxo-6-(3,4,5-trimethyoxybenzyl)-1,2,4-triazine with phenyl phosphorodiamidate. Displacement reactions of thioxo- and methylthio-groups in the 3- and 5-positions of the 1,2,4-triazine nucleus show that the 5- is considerably more reactive than the 3-position.
