Studies in terpenoid biosynthesis. Part 18. Biosynthesis of culmorin

Abstract

The labelling pattern has been partially determined for the sesquiterpenoid culmorin when biosynthesized from [2-3H2,2-14C]-, (2S)-[2-3H,2-14C]-, (4R)-[4-3H,2-14C]-, [5-3H2,2-14C]-, and (5R)-[5-3H,2-14C]-mevalonic acid by Fusarium culmorum. The results are discussed in terms of the cyclization of farnesyl pyrophosphate.
