Internal torsional modes in mixed methyl halogenocompounds of group iv elements studied by inelastic neutron scattering

Abstract

The internal torsional modes in a range of methyl halogenocompounds of elements of group IV have been determined from their inelastic neutron scattering (I.N.S.) spectra; from these values potential barriers to internal rotation are calculated. These values, both of the frequencies of the torsional modes and of the barrier heights are compared with values obtained or estimated by other techniques.
