Large scale intramolecular motion in polymers

Abstract

The linewidths of light scattered in an intensity fluctuation spectroscopy experiment on high molecular weight polymers of polystyrene, previously analysed in terms of translational and intra-molecular polymer dynamics, have been re-analysed in this way with correction for the finite sample polydispersity. The corrected values of the first Rouse–Zimm internal mode are close to those calculated on the non-free-draining bead-and-spring model for theta and non-theta conditions.
