Anisotropic rotational diffusion. An e.s.r. investigation of the anisotropic interaction tensor

Abstract

The rotational diffusion of the spin probe (3-spiro-[2′-N-oxyl-3′,3′-dimethyloxazolidine])-5α-cholestane dissolved in toluene has been studied using electron resonance spectroscopy. The intermolecular torques restricting motion of the long axis are found to be strong while those governing motion about this axis are weak.
