Inelastic neutron scattering from zirconium borohydride

Abstract

The inelastic neutron scattering spectra, in both energy gain and energy loss, were obtained for zirconium borohydride. Bands were assigned to optically active and inactive modes, and the barrier to reorientation about the metal to boron axis calculated. Significant coupling between the borohydride rotors was observed. Two of the optically inactive fundamentals v5(A2) and v15(F1) were identified from the neutron spectrum.
