Role of collective behaviour in polyatomic molecules

Abstract

In this paper arguments are advanced advocating the introduction of a continuum collective coordinate representation of the highly excited anharmonic vibrational states of molecules. The structure of the vibrational spectrum is considered and an illustrative example is examined; the example is that of a simple unimolecular rearrangement reaction.
