Calculation of molar area of a substance at the liquid/vapour interface from surface tension and energy of evaporation

Abstract

A simple method has been suggested for the calculation of the molar surface area of a substance at the liquid/vapour interface from surface tension and energy of evaporation. The molar areas obtained for different substances indicate that the liquid/vapour interface forms a monomolecular thick layer.
