Fluorine-19 nuclear magnetic resonance study of some pentafluorotitanate complexes with neutral ligands

Abstract

A 19F n.m.r. study of the reactions of [TiF5] with neutral Lewis bases is reported. The factors which contribute to the formation of [TiF5]·D complexes are considered. Fluorine-19 n.m.r. data for over 30 complexes are presented and the effects of donor basicity, pπdπ bonding, and solvent interactions on the chemical shifts are discussed.
