Transition metal–carbon bonds. Part XXXIX. Carbonylation and nuclear magnetic resonance studies on (α-hydroxyacetylene)bis(triphenylphosphine)platinum complexes

Abstract

New complexes of the type [Pt{R1C⋮CCR2R3(OH)}(PPh3)2](R = H, Ph, or CH2OH) are described. 31P and 1H n.m.r. data are given and the 1H pattern of the methine proton is shown to have more second-order character than previously reported. These complexes carbonylate smoothly to give platinalactone complexes, [[graphic omitted]:CHR1}(PPh3)2], of a new type.
