Antitumour agents synthesized from K2PtCl4 and polymeric or cyclic phosphazenes

Abstract

The phosphazenes [NP(NHMe)2]n, [NP(NHMe)2]4, and [NPMe2]4, react with K2PtCl4 in organic media to yield square-planar Pt complexes of the type (NPR2)x PtCl2, and in aqueous acid media to yield salts of the type, [H2N4P4R8]2+[PtCl4]2–; moreover, these compounds have shown significant antitumour behaviour in preliminary testing.
