Reaction of β-hydroxyethanesulphenyl chlorides with phosphines; a route to episulphides

Abstract

A cephalosporin-derived β-hydroxyethane-sulphenyl chloride reacted smoothly with triphenylphosphine to produce an episulphide; this is a mild method for obtaining such a functionality.
